After several months eyeing Guerlain Terracotta bronzers on beauty blogs around the world, I’ve decided to hit Rustan’s Makati and bought one almost 5 months ago.

Since it’s ridiculously expensive and price is something that’s a bit steep for my makeup budget, I have decided to play safe and ended up buying the 00 Nude.

Guerlain - Terracotta 4 Seasons 00 Nude

It comes with a velvet pouch to prevent scratch on the compact

The package comes with a velvet pouch that is well made and does not feel cheap. In fact, the entire package feels luxurious which makes it an elegant display on the table.

Guerlain - 4 Season - 00 Nude - Clamp crack

If you can see the crack visible on the clamp…

The top where the mirror is held is heavy as compared to the content which is a big no because if you are heavy-handed, the “clamp” that holds the compact will crack like what mine did especially if you are quick in a hurry to open it.

I don’t know if this is just me but most of the western brand make up I owned tends to break on the clamp. You name it: MAC and NARS (four times! – 2 blushes and 2 compact foundie). This never ever happened with me when I’m using Japanese brands.

For the price I paid, I seriously swear this is totally bizarre!

Guerlain - Terracotta 4 Seasons 00 Nude - actual

3 different tan shade and 1 pinkish blush to give an overall glowing nude without making you look muddy.

Anyway, the 3 shades offers a variety of nude coloring with the pink shade offering a contrast on the mixture once swirl which makes it an excellent combination of what Nude but only for peaches and cream skin. However, it should be noted that the pink shade seems to runs down too quickly as compared to the other shade after much used.

Guerlain - 4 Season - 00 Nude swatch

Here’s the overload swatch. A very light terracotta in color but I swear its predominantly tannish.

I was definitely surprise how it blended well on my skin but to be honest, I’m not totally amazed like other owners who owned one.

Certainly not because the color is, well, in Nude but rather it was bit light on my skin. I realized I want something “Ooomph!!” If you get what I mean. It’s less pigmented when applied on skin and does not create a bronzing depth unless I swipe more than what is considered too much.

At least the end results does not make me look muddy and I can make this is workable though if I keep out of the sun (meaning I should not get a tan since my face is already acidic) and is a great choice if I combined it with my Nars Douceur. Otherwise, it’s not pretty bad and would make great shade for peaches and cream skin color.

Is this worth it?
If you have the money, yes.

If you have a peaches and cream or creamy white mestiza skin tone, also yes.

Other wise I don’t suggest buying this as it is ridiculously expensive. I would prefer you to use your money on facial creams and oils instead unless it’s on sale or if you want, buy their other shades.

Will I buy again?
Yes maybe the other shade but only if it’s not in the range of almost Php 4k!.

I was looking for quite sometime to replace to my Body Shop LED Autumn Chestnut cheek and face powder shade when I happened to stumbled upon this at Taste Central some months ago.

Taste Central - Jane Iredale Bronzer

Jane Iredale Luxurious Quad Bronzer was on sale at Taste Central

Googling to check out reviews on both of these products seems to a bit lacking in the area as there are no side to side comparison of Moonglow and Sunbeam together.

Since I don’t want to agonized over the two shades, I ended up buying both of them despite being so expensive.

Jane Iredale Luxurious Quad Brozer boxes

Jane Iredale Luxurious Quad Bronzer that have arrived.
Note: The box was quite a bit dirty with some smudges..

Though I believe some will argue that for PHP1,650 that price is STEAL as compared to the original price of PHP 2,750. With the sale price, you can actually bring home a Jane Iredale product to try out if you are eyeing this for quite some time.

Jane Iredale - Luxurious Quad Bronzer - box back

Original price is about PHP2,750 in retail store

Since it’s a total of 8.5 grams, that’s about PHP195 per gram as compared to Nars which is just 4.8 gram and cost about PHP303 per gram (the blush cost PHP 1,450). So I guess this is just about right.

Jane Iredale - the famous JI initial packaging logo

The very sleek and classic iconic JI logo of Jane Iredale

Jane Iredale seem to have studied the packaging quite well. This twist screw type packaging is quite sturdy and a bit heavy unlike my Body Shop cheek and face powder. Once fall it does not break open and spill out. Holding one actually make you feel luxurious. Kinda like those you see at Estee Lauder.

Jane Iredale - Ingredients and where made

Common ingredients found seems to have a 24k carat Gold Leaf, Pine Bark extracts and Pomegranate.

The content is pack down with allowance from the container mouth as seen below. So when I slowly swirl the brush, the excess seem to stay inside the packaging and doesn’t spill much out of the package. This is something I don’t see from Nars and Bobbi Brown and or other well-known brands.

Jane Iredale - Luxurious Quad Bronzer in Moonglow and Sunbeam

R to L: Jane Iredale Moonglow and Sunbeam.
They both seem to look dull and unpretty when view from the packaging.

Once Moonglow was swatched. Whoa! IMHO, this is superb! This is the kind of glow-y cheek shade you see when celebrities are out on the carpet. This is the kind of shade I don’t have. This is a must keep in every bag on top on your regular blush!

Jane Iredale - Quad bronzer in Moonglow

L to R color swatches: Flesh yellow base pink, brownish-beige mauve, orange beige and champagne. Together: A golden skin tone incandescent beige bronzer

Seriously, this is an incandescent golden beige color that blends well with most skin color. I do not own any Hourglass Ambient Lightning Powder in Luminous or Diffused to compare with and it might be too vastly different to single them together, as one is a bronzer and the other is not but all I can say is for now you might want to try this out.

This is definitely a soft moon glow at its finest hour.

Jane Iredale - Quad bronzer in Sunbeam

L to R color swatches: Rosy pink, orange copper, burnish brown and light pale pink . Together: A rosy summer bronzer

Sunbeam is quite disappointment as this color is quite fairly common. It’s not reddish but a little bit plummy with pink coppery bronze overtones. I don’t know but this might go well with dark skin and fair skin but those with slightly tanned skin might find this a little muddy as I find it quite so on my cheeks.

Jane Iredale Luxurious Quad Bronzer swatch comparison

L to R: Jane Iredale Moonglow, Sunbeam and Body Shop Autumn Chestnut

I’ve swatch them all together with Body Shop Autumn Chestnut to compare but capturing the actual color is quite a drag especially the Body Shop’s (which is supposed to be a burnt apricot color) but at least I get to show you how it look when the light is not hitting directly on it.

I haven’t tried it as an eye shadow as I don’t see any reason why as I have some eyeshadows in the cabinet but given this is one of the pioneers in the mineral makeup industry which uses naturally preservatives with minimum allergy risk and is anti irritant. It’s safe to say you can use them on the eyes.

I won’t go down talking about it as you check about it at their website.

The bottom line: I’m still looking for a dupe to my Body Shop Autumn Chestnut but having Jane Iredale Moonglow bronzer is a must especially under bright light parties and social events. Just use it sparingly or it might go on cakey on the face.

——————————————————————————————————————————–

Is this worth it?
Moonglow is super worth the price despite it cost PHP1,650 sale price. This shade is best on top of your regular matte blush to add a moon glow effect. For Sunbeam, not really much as you can find a lot of dupes for this shade on a much lesser cost.

Will I buy again?
Will probably buy this abroad where inventory are overturn quickly than here or will just wait for a sale if it’s worth the price.
